Last time, I talked about the main mountain section of the Davidson-Arabia Mountain Nature Preserve. This go around, I was able to hike the forest trails as well as cover the large granite outcrop on the northeastern area of the park.
I have quite a few pictures from this hike, so, it’s sharing time. Below are two decent ones I took of this fellow I crossed tracks with near the frog pond. He was one of three turtles I came across that afternoon.
I’M READY FOR MY CLOSEUP NOW MR. HUMAN HIKING IN THE RAIN!
Needless to say, this was a pleasant treat, he was the only one who would not move. Yes, they were turtles, but even with a digital camera set for macro mode, a slow moving turtle is still slightly blurry.
I continued across the outcrop following the cairns and while watching the weather roll over.
Honestly, this place feels like another world at times.
I eventually made it to Arabia Lake, by that time it was properly raining.
However, the squall stopped for a short bit and I was able to grab this shot before the rain decided to fall again.
I love to hike in a light rain mainly because it makes for some interesting hiking.

I have always loved the sound of the rain falling in a forest. The patter of rain drops on the leaves is one of my favorite sounds.
So, I’ve been able to visit the entire park and I must say, this is now one of my favorite places. I’ve got to see this place in the spring.
Until next time, see you out there!
