Random Thought for Friday, April 22nd, 2016: Happy Earth Day!

20160118_172601Welcome to Friday’s Random Thought.

Happy Earth Day!  After you read my post, go outside and do something fun, perhaps read a book. I’m sorry, I’m just in a very good mood. I’m going to come right out and say it. Next week, I start a new job!

Yup, all the looking, interviews, phone calls and what not finally paid off.  I have a contract position for the next nine months. I could be brought on full time after the contract ends. That’s all I’m going to say about the job as I’m going to stick to my rule and not talk about work.  Work stays at work and that is that.

I want to thank everyone who helped me in my job search especially those of you who provided professional references. I could not have been met with success without your help. Again, thank you.

As I am in such a good mood and feel like celebrating I’m going to do another giveaway. This time it’s for a printed copy of It Began Among the Stars. For this one though, you will have to head over to Goodreads to enter.

So, again, Happy Earth Day! Go enter the giveaway and spend some time outside!

Random Thought for Friday, February 19th, 2016: The Cover is In!

Welcome to Friday’s Random Thought.

I have been busy working on the edits and polishing the next book. My wife Marie has been busy but she was able to put some time into the cover art. Want to see what it looks like?

ItBeganFrontCover-v2 NaNoWriMo

Yeah, Marie did a wonderful job!

As I said, work on the book is continuing and hopefully I can get the last of the edits done this weekend.  Once that is finished I am planning on another round of beta readers, make edits and revisions from their feedback and if all goes well, I’ll be able to send out advance review copies sometime in March.

So, I have a question for all of you. Would you like to receive an advanced review copy?

This is how it works.  You send me an email that you are interested in receiving a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. I send you a copy of the book in PDF or ePub format for you to read. You then write a review for the book for your blog, Amazon, Goodreads or wherever you want when the book is released.  When you write the review, you state in the first sentence “I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.” It’s that simple and you get a free copy of the book!

Happy Friday Everyone!

Random Thought for Friday, February 12th, 2016: Yeah…I Got Nothin’….

Party BaymaxWelcome to Friday’s Random Thought.

This week was one of those few times where things appeared to be terrifyingly normal. Yup, no insane encounters at a local Wal-Mart. Nothing of note while driving in traffic. Heck, even the winter weather was just that, winter weather.

Soo…let’s talk about what I have been working on. As you may or may not remember, I participated in NaNoWriMo this past November. I have been finishing up the revisions and working with a few people on editing the next book, It Began Among the Stars.

It has been a lot of work and addressing all the feedback has been interesting.  People who like to read Science Fiction material like it.  Those who are not Science Fiction buffs find it a bit ‘wordy’.

So I am left with a quandary. Do I engage in massive revisions that really will end up being a major re-write of the book or do I leave things along as the ‘wordy’ feeling is the style of the character narrating much of the story?

The focus audience for this book is meant to be those who enjoy science fiction. So from that standpoint things are fine, the material fits the genre.  Fragmented however has been liked by people who both love and hate science fiction. That story was very character driven and the science fiction material, the concepts are more mainstream than hard core SciFi.

I have some decisions to make obviously and I’ll have to make them soon if I am going to meet the soft release date of this spring.

Anyway, want to be the first to find out what happens? Want to learn about upcoming book giveaways? Join our mailing list and find out!

Happy Friday Everyone!
